The Chinese Studies Program of Monash University seeks to fill a continuing position to be taken up (preferably) by July 2015.
As the appointee to this position, you will be expected to have a dynamic research and teaching profile. We seek candidates with a strong track record in a China-related field of research and with experience in teaching Chinese studies and Chinese language. This open field search welcomes applications from candidates in all areas of specialisation in contemporary, modern or premodern China. Relevant disciplines include cultural, literary, film and media studies; history, philosophy, anthropology, sociology, politics and linguistics.
We expect you to show evidence of a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and to be bilingual in English and Chinese. You must have previous experience teaching Chinese studies (whether of culture, history, society or politics) at the tertiary level.
In addition to teaching Chinese studies, you will also contribute to teaching in the undergraduate language program, and undertake research supervision of graduate students.
