PUBLIC SEMINAR
China Law Research Group, UTS Faculty of Law
Date: 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm, 12 June 2014
Venue: UTS Faculty of Law, Cnr of Quay St & Ultimo Rd, Haymarket
Room CB05.03.18
Cloud computing, cyber security and privacy protection lie at the intersection of technology and law, and have become highly controversial in recent years. The U.S. and Australian governments have refused to allow Chinese telecom equipment firms to bid on government broadband contracts (due to alleged cyber-security concerns), and multinational technology firms like Microsoft and Google have experienced challenges in protecting their data (and that of their customers) in China. This seminar will critically examine these controversies with talks by academic experts and industry representatives. The seminar should especially appeal to lawyers and businesspeople with an interest in protecting online data in China.
Registration required online by 5 June 2014.
