Position overview

The Department seeks to appoint two lecturers/associate professors in Chinese Society and Politics. The positions are available from July 2018, with teaching to start at the beginning of September 2018.

The successful applicants will have a PhD in relevant fields and be able to demonstrate appropriate professional experience. Applicants should have good teaching experience and evidence of the ability to produce high quality research publications. Applicants are expected to have good language skills in both English and Chinese, and be able to teach in English, the language of instruction at the university. The successful appointees will be expected to teach; to undertake research in their area of specialisation on both individual and group projects, and to be actively engaged in the publication of the results; and to participate in the administration and development of the department of China Studies.

The Department’s focus is on China, its history and culture, society and politics, economy and business development. While Chinese language is an essential part of its teaching and learning programs, these are delivered by the university’s Language Centre. The Department offers both a BA and an MA in China Studies, as well as a one-year Diploma in China Studies for visiting international students.
