Dr Natalie Köhle, postdoctoral fellow at the Australian National University, talks about Chinese medicine, focusing on shifts in the tradition which culminated in the Qing dynasty.
Natalie Köhle is a historian of Chinese medicine, culture, and the body. She is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australian Centre on China in the World. Her research focuses on the history of humors and fluids in China. She is interested in the intersection of the history of humors with the history of fire and the passions in Chinese medicine, and in the connections of Chinese medicine with the ayurvedic and Greco-Islamic medical traditions.
