Senior Lecturer – Contemporary Chinese Studies

The Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies is currently seeking a Level C Senior Lecturer to work closely with the Centre’s Director to help consolidate and expand the University’s teaching, research and engagement activities on China and Chinese societies.
You will undertake research that is highly influential in the field of Chinese studies, foster engagement links with external networks/partners nationally and internationally and take on administrative tasks associated with the appointment. You will also be responsible for teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including supervision of Research Higher Degree students, and will assist in the development of new subjects as appropriate.
Launched in 2013, The Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies (CCCS) within the Asia Institute is a major initiative of the University of Melbourne. The Centre plays a vital role in promoting an Australian approach in the study of contemporary China, and is significant source of research-based information on China, Chinese societies and Chinese economies in the 21st century.
More generally, the Asia Institute is the University of Melbourne’s key centre for studies in Asian languages and cultures. The Asia Institute has close links with other Schools and Faculties across the University, and its programs are strongly interdisciplinary in focus.
