Outdoor air pollution is one of the most pressing challenges in China. Understanding the health impacts of air pollution is very important for decision-makers in tackling the challenges of reduction of air pollution that is health-supportive. This presentation will give an overview of studies on air pollution and health, and introduce studies performed by Yuming and his group.
About the Speaker
Yuming Guo is a Professor of Global Environmental Health and Biostatistics & Head of Monash University Climate, Air Quality Research Unit. He is supported by NHMRC Career Development Fellowship (Both Level 1 and Level 2). He is interested in assessing the associations between environmental exposures (e.g., air pollution, weather, and greenness) and human health using advanced statistical models and big data. He has developed several large international collaborative networks for environmental health risk assessment. He has been awarded Tony McMichael Award by International Society for Environmental Epidemiology, Australian Young Tall Poppy Award, NHMRC Research Excellence Award, The Rising Star of Australian Researchers, best environmental epidemiology paper by international society for environmental epidemiology, and best young investigator by The Lancet-Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences committee. He is an adjunct professor at University of Queensland, and University of Oulu, Finland. He has published more than 300 research papers in the last ten years in prestigious journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, BMJ, Nature, Nature Medicine, PLOS Medicine, JAMA Pediatrics, Nature Communications, The Lancet Planetary Health, and Environmental Health Perspectives. He is and Associate Editor for Environmental Health Perspectives and PLOS Medicine.
