2017 Women in Asia Conference

26-28 September 2017
With a particular thematic focus on ‘Gender-Based Violence’, the 2017 WIA aims to draw together scholars and activists working on this issue in Asia and Australia, to foster a discussion on the various challenges and strategies involved in addressing Violence Against Women in dfferent contexts.
We also welcome presentations on issues outside the conference theme, on issues relating to women in Asia, including (but not limited to): work; health; media and popular culture; politics and social movements; social relations; life stages and transitions and sexuality.
We welcome papers and panels from scholars and practitioners from Asia, as well as local and domestic participants from the community sector, academic and government.
All abstract submissions should be made through the conference website, link below.
Abstracts for individual papers should include a title, the author’s name and an abstract of <300 words, as well as a bio-note of <50 words.
Abstracts for panels should include a panel convenor, panel title, panel abstract (<150 words), and all paper titles, along with authors’ names and affiliations. Authors of papers in panels must also submit their individual paper abstracts separately (as above). Proposals for panels or a series of several panels are strongly encouraged.
Deadline for submissions is 31 March 2017.
We have 10 bursaries of $500 to offer advanced PhD students: 2nd year onwards.
